Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a very safe and non-invasive, FDA cleared modality for the treatment of injuries causing pain. The laser treatment will temporarily increase the microcirculation of the area injured by working directly with the mitochondria of the cell or the “power house” of the cell. This increased microcirculation can provide relief for many acute and chronic conditions. Laser therapy utilizes visible and invisible laser radiation, therefore, appropriate eye protection is required at all times during treatment.
Effects of your treatment depend on the seriousness of the injury and whether it is acute or chronic but often, will continue for up to 18 hours. Individuals respond uniquely to most laser treatment. You may see immediate results after the first treatment or depending on the severity of your condition you may require several treatments before you begin to feel results. Either way, the research does show that the treatment will be beneficial. We have found that most car accident injuries such as spinal trauma, especially to the Cervical spine or neck, will receive the best benefits.
Increased soreness may occur after your first laser session but not always. This is a normal healing phenomenon known as retracing. Unlike most other lasers, the lasers we utilize in this center, are powerful and go several dermal layers deep and can penetrate as far as 3-4 inches deep.
FDA Clearance and Endorsements
Laser therapy is an FDA cleared modality that is clinically proven to reduce pain and inflammation and is endorsed by the World Health Organization, the American Physical Therapy Association and the International Association for the Study of Pain®. Laser therapy has been adopted as an essential pain management tool by athletic trainers in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, FIFA and Olympic teams. Further, there are now many Chiropractic Physicians and MD’s who are using these in their offices.
“The medical staff has made this therapy device ‘one of our go to’ tools when treating sprains, strains, and other musculoskeletal conditions. The ease of application makes the whole treatment very efficient. I am confident in saying that the LiteCure laser helped us get our players back on the court faster. It also helped us keep injured players in action through some painful conditions.”
Ed Lacerte, MEd., PT, SCS, L/ATC, CSCS
Head Athletic Trainer for the Boston Celtics®
“As a professional soccer player I am constantly managing aches, strains and pain. Since Dr. Santiago has started treating my hamstring injury with the Litecure laser, my recovery time has been really fast. I was skeptical at first, my time is valuable and I cannot be messing with some new-fangled toy. However, the results were truly dramatic. I like the fact that it is non-invasive and drug free. It has helped me get back in the game post injury in record time and allowed me to perform at my peak, as I am typically pain free after one or two sessions with the laser. I would recommend this treatment to any athlete looking to optimize healing time. The Litecure laser is my go to modality for serious pain relief.”

Defender for the US National Soccer Team

“We have been using the laser successfully to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, hamstring pulls, and other nagging injuries. All the players love the laser. The treatment times are fast and the results are obvious. Our pitching staff use the laser as part of their normal warm up and rehab treatments.
The laser is instrumental in getting players back on the field earlier than expected after severe injury. We have used low level lasers in the past, the big difference with LiteCure lasers is the faster treatment times and consistent positive outcomes.”
